SIG President Mr. Shao Yaliang met Vice Treasury Secretary of New Zealand Mr. Gabriel Makhlouf and New Zealand Consul-General in Shanghai Mr. Matthew Dalzell in the afternoon of Sept. 13th. Both sides conducted friendly exchanges on the environment of financial investment in Shanghai and New Zealand, as well as the investment project of Sailing Capital Management.

Mr. Shao expressed his welcome to Mr. Makhlouf. He firstly introduced the profile and assets of six major business sectors of SIG, and then highlighted the business of Sailing Capital Management. He said, Sailing Capital is currently managing Sailing Capital International Fund, which is a corporate fund with total investment scale of RMB 50 billion and first-round fund raising of RMB 12 billion. In the next few years, Sailing Capital International Fund will expand its total investment scale to over RMB 150 billion by feeder funds, loan-investment combination and bonds issuance. The aim of the fund is to provide a commercial and marketing platform and professional investment and financing services for domestic enterprises in overseas investment, merger and acquisitions, and to promote cross-border RMB capical flows through overseas investment of the companies.

Mr. Makhlouf expressed his gratitude to the introductions Mr. Shao had made. He said, New Zealand is an open economy. At present, China has become New Zealand’s second large trading partner. Recently, New Zealand government has introduced new national strategies aiming to deepen the relationship and to promote bilateral investment exchanges with China. New Zealand government looks forward to more exchanges and communications with China to create a favorable investment environment and conditions for Chinese enterprises to invest in New Zealand.

At the meeting, the two sides made in-depth discussions on Sailing Capital Management’s investment opportunities, investment procedures, legal environment and equal treatment in New Zealand. Mr. Makhlouf said the government of New Zealand and Consulate General in Shanghai would do their best to provide assistance and support to the invested enterprises.
